Crash closes both directions on I-65 near Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – A crash near Exit 102 between Elizabethtown and Lebanon Junction has I-65 blocked in both directions.

A social media post by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, district 4, states the crash is in the construction zone, where a semi collided with a barrier wall and pushed the wall across all southbound and most of the northbound side. Motorists are encouraged to chose an alternate route before Exit 102 for northbound and before Exit 105 southbound.

The post further stated the semi is being removed, but it will take an an estimate of around 2-3 hours for crews to get the barrier wall back in place.

For those sitting in traffic, the transportation cabinet stated crews are working to relieve northbound backup via KY 313 at Exit 102 and will be directing incoming northbound traffic onto US-62 at Exit 94 in Elizabethtown.

The transportation cabinet stated that, due to traffic caused by the incident, drivers should use extra caution while traveling nearby routes with increased amounts of traffic driving on unfamiliar roads.

We will update as more information is available.
