Cops bake cakes for CASA

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Officers from the Bowling Green Police Department are helping out a local non-profit by showing off their baking skills.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of South Central Kentucky, or CASA, is hosting its Boogie Down Bourbon Street Friday night, where King Cakes baked by BGPD’s very own employees will be served at the Mardi Gras-themed event.

The department’s employees spent over seven hours baking and decorating 24 cakes throughout the day Thursday inside the SOKY Marketplace Community Kitchen.

Bowling Green Police Officer Ronnie Ward says the cakes are turning out great.

“We are getting close to the end. We are decorating now, and we are baking the last few and they are turning out pretty good. So, we are very happy with our end product. We are happy that we as a bunch of us at the police department could come together and do this for them,” said Bowling Green Police Officer Ronnie Ward.

The third annual Boogie Down Bourbon Street event takes place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at La Gala in Bowling Green.
