City’s first Hindu temple to open soon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In just a few months, the only Hindu temple in Bowling Green will be finished and will officially open its doors

Parts of the building in the 600 block of Scottsville Road are actually open already and congregants were celebrating the Hindu holidays of Navaratri just last weekend.

The building is being transformed from an old furniture store into a beautifully decorated temple that is expected to be finished early next year.

Much of the interior decorations, such as the wooden arches and the idols, are hand crafted with intricate detail.

Those involved in the project say the goal of the Hindu temple is to teach young Hindu children the fundamentals of their religion.

Gopal Parekh, a practicing Hindu with ISSO Temple, said all are welcome to attend services and festivals at the temple.
