City of Franklin holds ribbon cutting to welcome new Electrical Plant Building
FRANKLIN, Ky. – The City of Franklin, along with the Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning to celebrate the opening of the new electrical plant building and office.
The community gathered to celebrate the opening of the new facilities and take a tour of the new state-of-the-art offices.
An open house was held to take a look inside and see all of the improvements and upgrades that were made from the previous space.
The old EPB building was over 60 years old and couldn’t fit a single modern bucket truck inside its warehouse. Now, with the new facilities, they will have adequate space to serve the community.
“When I came here, we only had about 4000 electric customers. Now we have about 6000, and we have about 5000 fiber customers,” said Bill Borders, general manager of the Franklin Electrical Plant Board. “We’ve more than doubled the amount of customers that we’re having to deal with. And we needed a new facility to do that. As the fibers grown, we added more employees, so our other building was really just inadequate and that’s why we built.”
