Latin American and Caribbean Festival comes to Bowing Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The first Latin American and Caribbean Festival in the area kicks off Sept. 12 in Bowling Green.

Created by the Hispanic Community Alliance of Bowling Green, the festival plans to display a taste of many cultures. Columbia, Honduras, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador are just to name a few cultures that will be represented in many ways.

From food to dancing, a soccer tournament and a proclamation from the mayor, all are experiences festival goers can look forward to. Organizers say it’s the unity in community they look forward to.

“We incorporated our nonprofit and our festival for all the community. We are encouraging everybody to come and join us so they can see the cultures that we have in the Hispanic community. We are all Hispanic, but we are different and we have different food, different dances and that’s what I want to show the community,” said Tarsis Hicks, the president and founder of the Hispanic Community Alliance for Bowling Green.

The festival is Sept. 12 at Lampkin Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
