City of Bowling Green renames street in honor of Dan Renshaw

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A dedication was held for the renaming of a street outside of Greenwood Ford Wednesday afternoon in honor of the late Danny Renshaw.

Danny Renshaw died in August of 2025 after a 512-day battle with lung cancer.

Nine months later, his life was honored with the Danny Renshaw Way.

As former and current employees, friends, city officials and family drove down Pascoe Boulevard and Danny Renshaw Way to attend the dedication, several memories and stories were shared to celebrate his life and legacy.

When preparing her speech, his daughter, Deborah Renshaw Parker, went through his wallet to search for something important. What she found was just that.

Inside Danny’s wallet was a note that he had written on May 21, 1998, which read, “Be positive and uplifting to all, in everything I do.”

That little note, almost 28 years to the exact date of his dedication, described her father and the legacy he left behind.

I think that speaks volumes of exactly who my dad was and how he treated people. And he was not able to build these four car dealerships in South Central and Western Kentucky without this saying.” Renshaw Parker said. “And like I said earlier, it’s not what you do. It’s how you make people feel. And he was the master of it.”

Renshaw’s legacy extends beyond the dealerships he left behind.

Not only was he a great family man, but he was also a very active member in the Bowling Green community. He did a lot for the Early Childhood Center at Western Kentucky University, which helps families with Autism, and was a member of the board at SKYPAC, helping the arts become an integral part of Bowling Green.

But above all else, Renshaw will always be remembered for his kind heart and generosity.

“Oh, in today’s world, we always talk about if you can be one thing, be kind. To me, if you can be one thing, be like Dan Renshaw,” said Melissa Cansler, city engineer of Bowling Green. I think that’s what people will remember him by. You know, he’s built a legacy. And he’s built it through his dealerships, but he’s also built it with his kindness,  and his compassion.”
