Celebrating EMS workers and how we can support them
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week, as we get ready to celebrate a three-day weekend with Memorial Day approaching, we also celebrate a group of people who work hard to help us in our worst days.
EMS Appreciation Week is this week and is an opportunity for us to thank those who are usually the first to respond to emergencies. From being there for an EMS friend in need to just saying “thank you,” there are plenty of easy ways to show your appreciation.
But EMS personnel say the best thing you can do is follow the laws on the road so they can do their job as fast as possible, especially as traffic continues to become and issue with the increase in population.
“As Bowling Green continues to grow in population size, you know, the traffic is really a hindrance at times, especially in the rush hour time. So if you hear sirens, if you see lights and they’ll pull the right, that’s an easy ask. And it really helps us more than, than what a lot of the I think the public really, you know, can can really understand,” said Seth Wilson, director of Med Center EMS.
It is important to remember that when you hear sirens on the road to pull over to the right and stop until the emergency vehicle passes by.
