Canadian man faces federal charges following child sexual abuse internet investigation, jailed in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Canadian man is facing federal charges of child sexual abuse following an internet investigation

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, 44-year-old Alexander Towns, of Canada, was arrested and charged by federal complaint with distribution of child pornography and attempted online enticement of a minor following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Towns allegedly used online messaging to communicate with an undercover officer regarding the intention of engaging in sexual acts with a minor between May 6 and June 15 of 2026.

Towns allegedly sent child sexual abuse materials and made sexually explicit statements to the undercover officer.

Authorities say Towns traveled from Ottawa, Canada, to the Nashville International Airport with the intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Towns was arrested at the airport by FBI agents.

“The FBI did tremendous work in investigating and apprehending Towns. We will aggressively prosecute anyone accused of traveling,” said United States Attorney Kyle Bumgarner.

If convicted, Towns faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

Towns is currently lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.

There is no parole in the federal system.

The FBI is investigating the case.
