Brownsville man allegedly shows deputy open beer in vehicle, flees from scene

BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – A Brownsville man is behind bars after authorities say he fled law enforcement at speeds up to 120 miles per hour.
According to a uniform citation, an Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department deputy was parked at a Family Dollar on Wednesday when they saw a subject pull up beside the deputy’s cruiser and show an open beer.
The deputy yelled for the subject to stop, however, the subject fled in a vehicle on Main Street, authorities say.
Authorities say the deputy pursued the vehicle, turning onto Mammoth Cave Road, with the speed eventually reaching up to 120 mph for around three miles.
According to the citation, the subject then slowed down before turning into two cruisers.
Authorities say both law enforcement cruisers were damaged.
As a result, 36-year-old Ethan Ashley of Brownsville was arrested.
He remains at the Hart County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited ,first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
