Bowling Green Veterans Center may come soon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In the state, there are only three Veterans Centers, none of which are located in South Central Kentucky.

A bill filed in the state legislature would appropriate $2,500,000 to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for design and preconstruction costs for a Bowling Green Veterans Center.

The money has already been approved, the funds just have not yet been issued.

The the city of Bowling Green and the Warren County government has already donated land in the Transpark for the project to be built.

Malcom Cherry, the commander of the American Legion in Bowling Green says this center is necessary because the other veterans’ centers in the state are usually full and even have wait lists.

The money will come from the General Fund Surplus Account or the Budget Reserve Trust Fund Account if the bill is passed in the 2020 regular session in Frankfort.
