According to the Office of Gov. Andy Beshear on Thursday, Bowling Green ITA will receive $464,835 of the total $1.8 million in funds for a rail spur rehabilitation and safety improvement project.
Officials say this will rehabilitate existing rail spur, replacing crossties and timbers within two turnouts located along the spur. The governor’s office says flashing light signals will be installed at the Commonwealth Boulevard crossing, located in the Kentucky Transpark.
The four other projects include those for Greenup-Boyd Riverport, Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc., Progress Rail Services Corporation and Project Targa in Simpson County.
In Simpson County, officials say $470,889 will go to construction of a new railyard connecting to the CSX mainline to expand railcar repair services. Official say the facility will include four tracks of 12,000 feet and a warehouse with an office.
