Bowling Green Purples announce new cheer coaches
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week, Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green Junior High School announced new hires for their cheer programs. Thomas Vincent will take over as the Purples Cheer coach at the high school while Oshkea Carothers takes over at the junior high team.
Before BGHS, Vincent enjoyed success leading Logan County High School to 7 regional championships, 5 top four finishes at the state level and 3 top 10 finishes at nationals. His ability to create a culture built on competitiveness, discipline, and high-performing teams has led to one of Kentucky’s top cheer programs.
District Athletic Director Calvin Head shared his excitement about the hire: “We are excited to welcome Thomas to the Bowling Green High School Cheer Program. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong track record of regional success that will be a tremendous asset to our team. Thomas’s energy and passion are a great fit for our BGHS Cheer community, and he understands the high standard of excellence and tradition that defines our program. We are confident he will continue to build on that legacy while pushing us to reach new heights.”
Vincent expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity: “I know I am stepping into a program with a strong tradition and some big shoes to fill, but I am truly excited for the opportunity and ready to get started. I am looking forward to meeting all of the athletes and building on the excellence that is already here. Go Purples!”
Oshkea Carothers, who has previous success within the Bowling Green community, as she served over a decade as the assistant coach at BGHS and BGJHS. She has been a part of successful history by contributing to a National Championship, 5 High School State Championships and 4 Middle School State Championships.

Carothers expressed her gratitude and vision for the program: “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead BGJHS Cheer. I’m excited to pour into these athletes, build something special, and continue the tradition of excellence. Let’s go, Purples!”
