Bowling Green man charged after allegedly escaping jail, stealing and crashing car in Adair County

ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is charged after allegedly escaping jail and stealing a vehicle in Adair County.

According to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle located in a field on Lampton Lane on Oct. 30.

Deputies say the vehicle was involved in a collision, but no operator was present.

During the investigation, authorities were notified that an inmate at the Adair County Regional Jail, Marcus Lawrence, of Bowling Green, had escaped custody and stolen a vehicle before crashing it.

ACSO says Lawrence was located shortly after the crash and taken into custody.

Lawrence is charged with second-degree escape, theft by unlawful taking or disposition of an automobile $10,000 < $1,000,000 and first-degree criminal mischief.

The investigation is ongoing.
