Body identified of 16-year-old shooting victim in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WLEX) – The coroner’s office in Fayette County, Kentucky has identified the body found in a park on Wednesday.
According to the coroner, 16-year-old Christopher Valdez died from a gunshot wound.
Lexington police have confirmed two juvenile males were being treated after a shooting in Pine Meadows Park just after 2 p.m., later also finding a body by a nearby creek.
Police have yet to confirm if the body is connected with the shooting.
Resident Robert Fleming says his son watched it all unfold outside of his window.
“He said he saw him cut through our backyard and saw him go into a hole in our backyard that goes to a creek by the crooked tree, so I went and looked, and I saw a body back there,” Fleming said.
Police are continuing their investigation into just what happened in Pine Meadows.
