BGPD mourning the loss of a former collegue

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local police department is mourning the loss of a longtime coworker.

Don Dorris, a retired police chaplain of more than a decade for the Bowling Green Police Department, died Monday at 85 years old.

A police chaplain’s job is to make death notifications to families and to be there for the community when they need them, and they do it all without pay.

Dorris was one of the very first chaplains the department ever had.

People who knew him, like, Deputy Chief Penny Bowles, described him as kind and loving.

The police department currently has 3 chaplains available to the community.
