Beaver Dam mayor Sandefur elected Kentucky League of Cities president

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky League of Cities elected Beaver Dam Mayor Paul Sandefur as its 2026 president at the 2025 KLC Conference & Expo in Owensboro Tuesday night.
According to a release by The Eric Group, Sandefur has previously served as KLC’s 2025 first vice president and as a member of the League’s Board of Directors.
The release states voters elected Sandefur as Beaver Dam mayor in 2009. He will be serving his fourth term in office.
Sandefur joined the KLC Board of Directors in 2015 and became a member of the KLC Executive Board in 2020.
He served as the KLC second vice president and vice president in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
“It is an honor to be able to serve such a great organization as the Kentucky League of Cities,” Sandefur said. “Our cities across the state have such a profound impact on Kentucky. I am looking forward to working with KLC and all of our city leaders to keep this momentum going for the betterment of the place we call home!”
KLC executive director/CEO J.D. Chaney thanked Mayor Sandefur for his dedication to local government, the League’s mission, and its members.
“We are very excited to welcome Mayor Paul Sandefur into the presidency. It’s been a privilege getting to know him over the past several years with his service on the Executive Board, as second VP, and first VP,” Chaney said. “If his city is any indication of where he’s going to lead this league, we are going to continue our trajectory of improvement under his leadership.”
