Warren County South Softball wins pair of little league state championships
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – You may have already known that high school state softball runs through Warren County after seeing South Warren take home the championship trophy, but the Lady Spartans aren’t alone as the best in the Bluegrass.
Over the weekend, Warren County South saw a pair of teams win in the Kentucky Little League Softball State Tournament.
The 7U and 9U girls battled and came out on top, becoming the first champions in Warren County Youth Softball history.
The teams lit up the diamond, made many great summer memories and have returned back home with some nice hardware.
Both squads put in a lot of hard work to earn what they hope is just the first of many trophies.
The wins are perfect results of the switch the league made two years ago.
Going from a normal rec league to an official member of the little league system has led many young girls in the area to become better players and make lifetime friends along the way.
“ As an entire league, Warren County Softball, we have done a great job,” 9U head coach Nick Uhlenhopp said. “The community has picked it up. Our league is very healthy. We had a record number of girls this year, so it was hard to pick the all-star teams, but then when those teams did get picked, these girls worked really, really hard.”
“We’ve been practicing for a month and a half, and so to do that, we were excited.”
