Bears likely to migrate through the area during Spring

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky Fish and Wildlife employees are reminding the public that bears are making their way through Kentucky this Spring.

The bears are migrating.

Wildlife Biologist Bill Lynch says taking a few extra precautions might be wise.

Put a lid on your outdoor trash can and place a lock on the lid.

Also, if you feed your animals outside and you see a bear nearby, feed the pets indoors for a few days to allow the bear to migrate through without any temptations.

Lynch says the bears typically stay away from human activity, so you are not likely to see them up close and personal.

The bears are oftentimes young males traveling from Tennessee towards the north, straight through the Commonwealth.

If you see a bear in your area, call Kentucky Fish and Wildlife so they can continue to track the bears.
