BBQ event raises money for 7-year-old with incurable disease

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-On Friday morning, Bowling Green Municipal Utilities held a fundraiser for a special young girl.

Meet Hadley Jo Brindley. She’s seven years old and was diagnosed with a rare mitochondrial disease at just two and a half years old.

There’s currently no treatment or cure for her disease. The degenerative disease affects her balance and coordination and her optic nerves.

Dozens of people attended the BBQ event today to raise money for Hadley. They also sold raffle tickets for a Coleman mini bike, valued at $700.

“We appreciate it so much. Because this isn’t just a one time fundraiser where we’re raising money for something, this is an ongoing effort that we are committed to and we are going to work hard for every single day that we can to try to find that treatment. That’s the ultimate goal,” said Hadley’s mom Ashley Brindley.
