Barren River Area Development holds a strategic planning meeting

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Residents gathered Tuesday evening at the Barren County Fairgrounds to help shape the county’s future during a strategic planning meeting hosted by the Barren River Area Development District.
The meeting focused on developing priorities and goals for the next five years across 11 key areas, including infrastructure, workforce development, leadership development and other community needs.
Community members were invited to provide feedback on proposed initiatives by placing green and red stickers on display boards, allowing organizers to gauge public support for various projects and priorities.
Officials say the input will help guide future planning efforts and ensure county leaders are focusing on issues that matter most to residents.
“This is how we gain citizen input on which goals and objectives we should move forward with and which ones may already be addressed or aren’t priorities for the community,” said Matt Pedigo, lead community development specialist with the Barren River Area Development District.
Pedigo said public participation is essential to creating an accurate and effective long-term plan.
“We can’t accurately create these plans without community input,” he said. “Nobody knows Barren County like Barren Countians. That’s exactly the input we want.”
Organizers say feedback collected during the meeting will be used to help guide decision-making and future development efforts throughout the county.
