Ashes found in dumpster
(WXII) A North Carolina woman is working to reunite a family with their lost loved one after her friend made an unlikely discovery.
Elizabeth Cartee’s friend found an urn engraved with the name “Langley ‘Mr. Man'” in a dumpster in Wallburg Tuesday.
Cartee’s friend was looking for boxes to help with her move to another area when she discovered the ashes in a box full of children’s toys.
“He was 11 years old. He died on 12/14/2018. His birthday was 11/12/2007. I guess his nickname was Mr. Man. So, I mean, hopefully someone comes forward,” Cartee said.
Since Cartee picked up the urn from her friend it has been her mission to find the family to which the urn and its contents belong.
“As I was coming home I had tears coming down my eyes because I felt real bad. I have four of my own,” Cartee said. “I’ve got a 9-year-old, a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old. So I can only imagine if something like this happened to my family.”
Whether it is the remains of a child or of a family’s pet, Cartee says she will not stop until the urn is returned.
