Another way to give on Giving Tuesday: donate blood

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Today is Giving Tuesday and while there’s many ways to give back…one way you might not have thought of is to give blood.

A single donation of blood can save up to three lives in the community.

Blood Assurance is the sole provider of blood for Tristar Greenview Regional Hospital.

The organization is having several drives in Bowling Green over the next couple of weeks, partially to honor the one year anniversary of the tornado. As we approach winter, blood is needed the most in these months when people are on school break and traveling….not donating.

“Yes you’re going to experience that one second of discomfort when the needle goes on but you gotta think about all the people you’re helping who are going through so much more pain than you are,” said Media Relations Coordinator Max Winitz.

Anyone over 17 years of age is eligible to donate. If you’re 16 years old and want to donate, you will need parental permission.
