Poll: Majority doubts Trump is cleared on Russia

(NBC News) As the White House claims vindication from the summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings in the Russia probe, the American public does not see a clear verdict about whether President Donald Trump has been cleared of wrongdoing.

According to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 29 percent of Americans say they believe Trump has been cleared of wrongdoing, based on what they have heard about Mueller’s findings, while 40 percent say they do not believe he has been cleared, and 31 percent say they’re not so sure.

Attorney General William Barr says a redacted version of Mueller’s report should be released by mid-April. Democrats are continuing to hold him accountable, while focusing on cybersecurity for the 2020 election, in an effort to prevent foreign interference like we saw in 2016.

On the Republican side: lawmakers are moving on to other topics that could affect your wallet: healthcare and border security.

As the Justice Department urges a federal appeals court to declare the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional, Republicans have yet to offer a new healthcare plan of their own. The trump administration promises pre-existing conditions will be covered in any new plan it proposes, but so far, nothing is in the works.

When it comes to border security: President Trump is threatening to close the border with Mexico, a move that experts say could cost billions of dollars, while raising prices and slowing down trade. Mr. Trump also announced that he will be cutting foreign aid from Central America to stop migrant caravans that are heading to the U.S.
