Bevin touts I-165 project during Tuesday stop in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin made a stop in Bowling Green Tuesday morning to commemorate the new Interstate-165.
Bevin, along with local, state and federal officials, attended a ceremony at Stryker Logistics.
What was the William H. Natcher Parkway was renamed earlier this month.
The 70-plus mile roadway connects Bowling Green and Owensboro.
The project was first announced by Bevin in 2016.
The upgrading of the highway represents an investment of more than $40 million in modernization construction.
Bevin said communities along the corridor can now use the economic driving force of being located on an interstate to unlock economic development potential.
“There are billions and billions of possibilities in the pipeline,” said Bevin. “These people want good roads and bridges. They want to move safely and efficiently from A to B to C to D. This is going to be possible now. I’m so grateful for all that has been done by everyone.”
After the event, Bevin traveled to Scottsville for a community forum at the Allen County Courthouse.
