NCM Motorsports Park navigates road to recovery after tornadoes

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After a week and a half of hard core cleanup, the road ahead is still long for Bowling Green’s beloved NCM Motorsports Park.

Executive Director at NCM Motorsports Park Greg Waldron recalled, “It was just a very emotional time and seeing this devastation in the middle of the night with a flashlight. Our Holly Tower building was completely destroyed. The roof was off. I went up to the second floor where my office is located and I could make it see the sky.”

The track is in great shape despite the devastation, but the NCM Motorsports Park has virtually no operable buildings right now.

In spite of broken windows and a few banged up C8s, the NCM track is nowhere near throwing in the towel.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard,” said Waldron. “We just welcomed our first guest back this Tuesday. We’re now welcoming guests back in the beautiful C8 Corvettes.”

Waldron said he expects rebuilding to take the better part of 2022. Along the way, nothing – not even tornadoes – can keep Corvette’s off the pavement for long.

“We have our first track event in roughly about six weeks,” Waldron said. “It may feel a little different, but when we hit our guests back. When we get those events back, you will feel the love and the normalcy that is in a motorsports park.”

Waldron said the support from the community of Corvette lovers is the driving force that makes them fight to wave the checkered flag again as soon as possible.

“You know, this is our home for the MSP family” Greg said smiling. “While people see dents and dings right now, I know that in a year or so as we rebuild it will just look amazing [as always].”
