The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce releases important resources for tornado victims

BOWLING GREEN, Ky: The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce releases important information and resources for those affected by the recent tornadoes. The list of helpful resources includes information about unemployment insurance, building permits, a map of storm damage, food support and supplies. The full list is available below.
Unemployment Insurance
For individuals needing to file for unemployment, please have them sign up at https://kcc.ky.gov/Pages/index.aspx
Expedited Building Permit Process to Recover from Tornado Damage
- As of Monday, December 13th, there is a temporary stop on all building and electrical permit applications, unless they are directly related to storm damage repair.
- Occupational License and Contractor’s License are both still required.
- Need to make it clear on the building permit application that this is to rebuild from Storm/Tornado Damage under Project Information
- The Comprehensive Development Review and Public Works Stormwater Quality Application Guide will be temporarily suspended for building permits related to Storm/Tornado Damage.
- With the submittal of the original building plans (preferably as a pdf), this process can be expedited even faster.

- “Disaster Area with 2020 Census Estimates” provides demographics summarized for each Damage Assessment Area which was in the previous map.
- “Census Blocks 2020” shows the actual blocks which were used in the area totals.
Tornado Victims Food Support
Bowling Green Independent School District – Lunch will be served at all elementary schools and high school from 10 AM – 1 PM through Friday the 17th.
Feeding America Mobile Food Pantries – For those in need of food, Feeding America will have mobile pantries set up on Thursday, December 16th from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the following locations: Ephram White Park (885 Mt. Olivet Rd.) and Michael O. Buchanon Park (9222 Nashville Rd.)
Spencer’s Coffee – Through the end of the year, Spencer’s will be providing free food and drinks to anyone who’s been displaced, emergency workers (police, fire, EMS), and utility workers.
Warren County Public School – Meal bags available for breakfast and lunch from 11:00 to 12:30 pm at the nearest high school and buses will deliver to the most affected areas through Friday the 17th.
United Way – Call 2-1-1or text 898-211 if you are in need
Tornado Victims Supplies Pick-Up
CenterPointe Church (1000 Roselawn Way) will provide clothing, flashlights, toys and hygiene products from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM through Saturday.
NewLife Church (1423 Scottsville Road) will provide various supplies on Wednesday, December 15 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
