Bowling Green Police play a round of hoops with local kids
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several police cars were spotted in a Bowling Green neighborhood Thursday afternoon with a large crowd forming, but it wasn’t the typical police response.
The scene was not the typical chaos or handcuffs, instead it was smiles, laughter and a game of basketball!
The Bowling Green Police Department focuses largely on community policing, and today, they were acting that out, right in front of our eyes.
BGPD officers were playing a goofy game of pick-up basketball with local children who are out of school for fall break this week.
One kid said he thought the kids were winning and that they were better than the Harlem Globetrotters.
Another said when the police arrived, he was scared, but after they began to play with the children, he was having a good time.
Yet another shouted “This is the best day ever!”
A heartwarming experience for everyone involved showing the humanity of the local officers and the joy the kids had from scoring points against law enforcement.
