Delayed unveiling of students’ marble carving is Saturday
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Some Kentucky students who have been working on a marble carving will finally see their work unveiled this weekend. Artist Andrew Wielawski has been working with five high school students to create the first of four large carvings at the corners of Scottsville’s town square. The first carving is of the Jacksonian Hotel. It was supposed to be unveiled in April 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic delayed it. Now an unveiling is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. Wielawski says although the Jacksonian was torn down decades ago, it’s still remembered by people in town, including some who had wedding receptions in its grand ballroom.
