Virus: Just 90 adult ICU beds still available in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear says there are just 90 adult intensive care beds available in Kentucky as hospitals are strained by the coronavirus pandemic. Beshear reported Thursday that the 90 remaining beds was a record low for the pandemic. Only 188 beds were available at last county Tuesday. The Democratic governor added that 60 of 96 Kentucky hospitals currently are facing a critical staffing shortage. The limited number of ICU beds will also put those in non-COVID related emergencies in danger of not receiving care.  He added that Kentucky National Guard teams will arrive over the next week at 21 strained hospitals in the state.
