Cashman: Yankees ‘as bad as you can be,’ not Boone’s fault

NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says his fourth-place ballclub is “as bad as you can be” but he’s not placing the blame on manager Aaron Boone or the coaching staff. “We suck right now,” Cashman declared Tuesday prior to New York’s home game against the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees have lost four straight, falling to 40-38 to drop 7 1/2 games behind the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox, with the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays also ahead of new York in the standings. The Yankees entered Tuesday ranked 14th out of 15 American League teams with 310 runs scored despite a star-studded lineup.
