Horse racing has more questions than answers post-Preakness

BALTIMORE (AP) — Rombauer’s victory in the Preakness ended a Triple Crown bid that would have been fraught with controversy going into the Belmont. Bob Baffert-trained Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit still faces a potential disqualification from that race unless a second round of drug testing comes back negative. For the 2 minutes of Rombauer’s upset in Baltimore and the ensuing aftermath, horse racing was able to celebrate a trainer and family owners winning in their first Triple Crown race. But the questions about Baffert and medication in the sport aren’t going anywhere. That’s regardless of Rombauer running in the Belmont. Baffert could bow out of that race, the final leg of the Triple Crown.
