Glasgow High School partnering with the 911 center to install a 2-way video emergency system
GLASGOW,Ky.-Glasgow High School is partnering with the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Communications Center to tackle school safety in a new way.
The 911 call center in Glasgow is installing a new device that will allow them to receive a live, real-time video feed from Glasgow High School in case of an emergency.
Dispatchers will be able to access network cameras already at the school, see what is happening in the moment and direct dispatch appropriately.
“We pray that it’s never needed, but anytime there’s a situation or circumstance and you have outsiders coming in that are not familiar with that environment, every second that you can save by having that type of access is the matter of saving someone or being able to enhance that situation,” said Chad Muhlenkamp, facilities director at Glasgow High.
Glasgow 911 hopes to have the two-way camera system operating at Glasgow High School in the next few weeks.
