Program raises $2 million to provide healthcare for people in need

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- At the Med Center Health cafeteria, people joined to celebrate the milestone of collecting $2 million in donations for the ECHO program. ECHO stands for Employees Contributing to Helping Others, and it’s a program that offers the Med Center employees the chance help others through donations directly made from their payroll.

The money raised goes directly to patient care at the community clinic, the dental clinic, and it also helps cancer patients pay for medical and transportation costs. Chair of the ECHO campaign Eddie Scott sees the need for this program on a regular basis.

“Working first hand with patients in the cancer center, I can tell you first hand that there’s a big need for the patients who need assistance with transportation, medication, and through this foundation, we are able to provide and meet some of those needs for patients,” Scott said.

Through this campaign, it’s becoming even more clear that giving a little can go a long way, he said.

“Probably a third of our employees are giving to this campaign. You don’t have to give a lot. We found that if every employee just gives a little, that adds up over time. And certainly, as you can see, we’ve raised $2 million, so that reflects that a little can go a long way,” Scott said.
