Kentucky ‘working every angle’ to get shots in more arms

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear says officials are “working every angle” possible to reverse a slowdown in the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Kentucky. Beshear said Thursday that more than 550,000 doses of the vaccine are available statewide. He says that means “nobody has to wait anymore” to get vaccinated. Nearly 1.7 million Kentuckians have received at least their first COVID-19 shot. But the vaccination rate has dropped considerably. Beshear says about 85,000 Kentuckians were vaccinated in the prior week. That’s less than half the number receiving the shots during a peak period in March.
