MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins’ season starts Thursday, and general manager Kim Ng says failure is not an option for her. Ng joined the Marlins in October as the first female GM in the four major North American professional sports leagues. Tennis Hall of Famer Billie Jean King applauds Ng but says the job comes with pressure. King says the toughest part for pioneering women is that if they don’t do a great job, it hurts those coming after them. One thing working for Ng is the Marlins might have their best team in more than a decade.
