WR Corey Davis came to Jets with belief Darnold ‘is the guy’

NEW YORK (AP) — Corey Davis said he signed with the Jets last week with the belief that Sam Darnold will be the team’s quarterback this season despite speculation that New York might go elsewhere with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft next month. The former Tennessee Titans standout signed a three-year deal worth $37.5 million last week. He said it was his understanding that Darnold would be under center when the season begins in September. Davis added that it’s on him to be ready to catch passes and perform like a No. 1 wide receiver no matter who ends up as the Jets quarterback.
