Transportation crews to begin weed treatment along roadsides

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky transportation crews plan to start treating roadsides around the state for weeds in an effort to improve driver safety and efficient maintenance operations. The Transportation Cabinet said in a statement on Tuesday that crews were expected to begin treatment for noxious and nuisance weeds this month. Their targets include Johnson grass, giant foxtail, poison hemlock and kudzu. Transportation Secretary Jim Gray says weeds can not only interfere with a driver’s line of vision, but also cause drainage problems. Motorists are asked to be cautious when they see crews spraying weeds.
