FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear says Kentucky has reported its lowest daily number of new COVID-19 cases since the day after Christmas. It continues a downward trend still marred by high death counts. Beshear reported 1,003 new coronavirus cases in Kentucky on Monday. He reported 40 more virus-related deaths. The statewide rate of people testing positive for COVID-19 is 7.78%. That’s the lowest rate since Nov. 10. The state’s weekly numbers of new virus cases have declined for four straight weeks for the first time since the outset of the pandemic. The statewide positivity rate also has declined for four consecutive weeks.
