Special Delivery: Baby Born Oklahoma’s Ice Storm

Ari Espinoza arrived on his family's living room floor, in the middle of this week's ice storm. KFOR's Peyton Yager reports.

(KFOR/NBC News) — Ari Espinoza’s arrival is something his mother and father will never forget.

“Being a mom is life changing already, as we are day one in,” new mom Morgan Espinoza says.

Ari, 8 pounds, 5 ounces already has the story of a lifetime. He arrived on October 28, as his hometown of Oklahoma City was in the crosshairs of an ice storm.

“We made it work,” new dad Chris Espinoza says. “It was a make it work moment.”

The Espinozas were riding out the ice storm when Morgan’s contractions became unbearable, a week before her due date.

“I was so cold,” Morgan says. “I was shivering. They call it labor for a reason.”

The inside temperate of their home was 48 degrees.
