Wednesday update: Coronavirus numbers in south central Kentucky
Wednesday, Governor Andy Beshear announces another high number of positive COVID-19 cases. There are 2,398 cases here in Kentucky, by far the largest single day total in the pandemic thus far. However, 1,472 cases are from a backlog of cases, with 926 being newly reported cases.
That number means the commonwealth has had 76,587 total cases of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. 12, 800 hundred have recovered.
Five new deaths were also reported Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 1,223.
According to the Barren River District Health Department, there have been 7,669 total cases in the surrounding counties combined since the start of the pandemic, 6,509 have recovered.
Two new deaths have been reported Wednesday, one person in Logan county and another in Warren county.
