Suspect In Custody After Phoenix Courthouse Shooting
A U.S. Marshal was shot in the chest and a UPS truck was riddled with bullets outside of the federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix when a gunman opened fire Tuesday afternoon. KPNX's William Pitts reports.
(KPNX/NBC News) — A person is in custody after a U.S. Marshal outside of a federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix, Arizona was shot in the chest Tuesday afternoon.
The marshal’s bullet-proof vest absorbed the impact of the shot, U.S. Marshal David Gonzales said.
He was able to return fire, and was not seriously injured.
The FBI said in a statement that “an individual is in custody in connection with the assault on a federal officer” outside of the federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix.
“This is an ongoing investigation. No further information can be released at this time. There is no further information to suggest there is a continued threat to public safety.”
