Dogs and cats from cruelty investigation brought to BRAWA for treatment
GLASGOW, Ky.- More than two dozen cats and dogs seized during an animal cruelty case in Barren County are now recovering at the Barren River Animal Welfare Association.
According to the Glasgow Police Department, multiple chickens, cats and dogs were found malnourished and neglected at a property on Goodnight Terrance Road on Friday, along with 28 dead chickens and one deceased cat.
BRAWA is now caring for 25 of those dogs and cats.
“For the most part the ones we have aren’t too bad,” said Connie Greer, the director at BRAWA. “They were very hungry and very filthy. Some are a little feral and haven’t been around humans, but we are taking care of them.”
It’s unclear when or if the animals will be available for adoption.
Heather Gillock of Glasgow was arrested and charged with 70 counts of second-degree cruelty to animals.
She remains in the Barren County Detention Center.
