School teachers attend active shooter training
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local teachers sat through a class Tuesday to learn how to keep their kids safe, but not from COVID-19.
With schools about to reopen, Warren County Schools are doing a yearly active shooter training with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
First year teachers sat through a course on what to do in case of an active shooter on their schools’ campus.
Warren County Sheriff’s Captain Curtis Hargett says while these situations are rare, it is better to have a plan than and not need it, than to caught off guard.
Some tips given to teachers include locking doors and coverIng windows and keeping students as quiet as possible in order to deter a shooter from approaching.
