Bowling Green police investigate shooting

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Police arrested a man Thursday night after another man was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Bowling Green police responded at 5:44 p.m. Thursday evening to the 600 block of Crossings Court where they found Dalton Quinn with a gunshot wound, BGPD spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward said.

A red pickup truck at the scene was cordoned off with police tape.

Quinn told police a man named Kevin Morris, 19, shot him, Ward said. Morris turns 20 Friday.

“He was able to tell us, there on the scene, that a guy named Kevin Morris had shot him. So, we, of course, got him medical help and he went on to the hospital and we started looking for Kevin Morris,” said Ward.

Police utilized a K-9 team in the area immediately following the shooting.

Wary residents stood outside in their yards and watched as multiple police vehicles arrived in the usually quiet neighborhood.

“You would never dream that anything would ever be so close to your house that would happen like that. [It is] just devastating,” said Pat Wilson, a neighbor.

Shortly after that call, police received a call about a man with a gun who matched Morris’ description in the area of Scottsville Road and Ken Bale Boulevard.

“An officer happened to be in that area right at that point and was able to locate the guy [and] detain him very quickly,” said Ward.

Morris admitted to police he shot Quinn after a physical fight inside a vehicle, according to Ward.

“During a search of his person when we were taking him to the jail, officers located a baggie of what looked to us to be heroin,” said Ward.

“This person doesn’t live in our neighborhood, but I am really sorry that it happened. I feel sorry for the family of the guy that was shot,” said Wilson.

Morris is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail and is charged with first-degree assault and first degree possession of a controlled substance.
