Police pursuit crosses from Tennessee into Clinton County

CLINTON COUNTY, Ky. – Multiple illegal drugs were recovered after authorities say a reported vehicle pursuit crossed from Tennessee into Kentucky on Tuesday.
According to the Pickett County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, officers with the Livingston Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a window tint violation.
Authorities say the driver failed to stop, fleeing from officers and resulting in a pursuit on Byrdstown Highway.
Deputies say the pursuit continued into Pickett County, where the sheriff’s office and Tennessee Highway Patrol joined to provide assistance.
Authorities say spike strips were deployed by highway patrol, however, they were unsuccessful.
The pursuit eventually reached Kentucky, authorities say, where deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office joined in pursuing the vehicle.
According to law enforcement, the pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle lost control, striking a Pickett County Sheriff’s Office patrol cruiser.
Two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Christian Messick and Michaelan Robinson, both of Florida, authorities say.
Both individuals were detained by Pickett County deputies and taken into custody.
During the pursuit, authorities say a large amount of suspected narcotics, along with multiple guns, were thrown from the fleeing vehicle.
The items were later located by officers and transported for evidence collection, according to authorities.
Authorities say no injuries were reported in this incident.
Sheriff Dana Dowdy stated,“Law enforcement does not stop at city, county, or state lines when it comes to protecting our communities. I have always believed that when another agency needs assistance, we should be willing to step up and help in any way we can. Whether it’s our own county or a neighboring jurisdiction, we are all working toward the same goal: keeping our citizens safe. I am extremely thankful that every officer involved in this pursuit was able to return home safely. Vehicles and equipment can be repaired or replaced, but the lives of our officers cannot.”
“I am also grateful that these suspected narcotics and firearms were recovered and that the individuals involved were taken into custody. This incident is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies put jurisdictional boundaries aside and work together.
“The Pickett County Sheriff’s Office will always stand ready to assist our neighboring agencies whenever called upon. We appreciate the relationships we have built with our fellow law enforcement officers in Tennessee and Kentucky, and we will continue working together to protect the people we serve.”
