BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Community Education will conclude its 10th annual Blockbusters at the Ballpark on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a free evening of entertainment featuring “Michael,” the Michael Jackson biopic, at Bowling Green Ballpark.

According to organizers, the event will serve as the grand finale of Community Education’s 10th anniversary celebration of Blockbusters at the Ballpark, a tradition that has brought local families together for free movie nights while raising funds to support Community Education’s programs throughout the community.

This year’s series, themed “Movies, Memories, and the Magic of the Ballpark,” began in August with a showing of A Minecraft Movie. The Sept. 19 showing of “Michael” will bring the 2026 series to a close.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with the movie beginning at 6 p.m. Families are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the ballpark’s playground, carousel, outfield activities, concessions and other pre-movie activities. Guests may enjoy the stadium’s box seats or bring a blanket to sit on in the outfield. Chairs, strollers and wagons are not permitted on the outfield.

As with every Blockbusters at the Ballpark event, admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted and directly support Community Education’s programs, including before- and after-school care, Teen Angel holiday assistance for teens, Safe Seats | Safe Kids, children’s summer programming, adult enrichment opportunities and other initiatives serving children, teens, families, and adults throughout the community.

“Reaching the 10th year of Blockbusters at the Ballpark is something we’re incredibly proud of,” said Joshua Smith, Interim Director of Community Education. “What started as a movie night has grown into a special community tradition. We’re grateful to everyone who has attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored and helped us make these events possible over the past 10 years. We hope everyone will join us for one more night at the ballpark as we celebrate this milestone together.”

Blockbusters at the Ballpark is Community Education’s major annual fundraiser, with every dollar raised staying local to help support the organization’s wide range of programs and services.

The 10th anniversary event is made possible through the support of local sponsors and community partners, including WNKY as the event’s Red Carpet Sponsor, with additional support from the Bowling Green Hot Rods, Houchens Food Group, Houchens Insurance Group, Industrial Electrical Contractors and many other businesses and organizations whose generosity helps keep Blockbusters at the Ballpark free and accessible to the community.

Community Education invites families, friends and movie fans to join them for the final Blockbusters at the Ballpark of 2026.
