WKU Player of the Week: soccer defender April McDonald
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -Today’s WKU Player of the Week goes to Hilltopper soccer’s April McDonald.
The graduate student joins the Tops this season after spending four years with the Lafayette Leopards.
Last week, the defender made up for two of Western’s three total goals combined against Ball State and UAB, with her goal against the Cardinals proving to be the game-winner.
But that’s not the only way she showed up for her team against Ball State.
She also anchored the back line of defense as a holding midfielder, helping the Tops secure their third shutout of the season.
Her efforts led to her being named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.
McDonald and the Tops are off to their best start to a season since 2021 and will be back in action Thursday, August 27, to host Union at the WKU Soccer Complex.
