Kids on the Block hosts annual Scotty’s Pound the Pavement

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hundreds of young runners laced up their tennis shoes Saturday morning to help support an organization that’s making a difference for students across South Central Kentucky.

Nearly 380 children hit the trail at Kereiakes Park for Kentucky Kids on the Block’s annual Scotty’s Pound the Pavement.

The free event helps kick off the new school year while encouraging kids to stay active and supporting the organization’s educational programs. The annual race features a half-k, a 2k, and a 3k. Every participant crossed the finish line with a medal, while top finishers in each race also took home awards.

The fun run raises awareness for Kids on the Block and its mission of teaching children through educational puppet programs that focus on topics like safety, disability awareness, and healthy decision-making.

“We’ve supported Kids on the Block for well over 20 years. This is the 14th year we’ve had it. The kids are not here at kerry park and just proud to support kids on the block, proud of what they do for the community and what they do for the schools, and know that the impact of the funds we raised here can go to their programs and help benefit the kids of these communities and surrounding communities in kentucky,” said Mike Law, president of Scotty’s Contracting.
