Man charged after allegedly breaking into Glasgow Taco Bell

GLASGOW, Ky. – One man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a Taco Bell in Glasgow.

According to a uniform citation, on Saturday, the Glasgow Police Department responded around 12:55 a.m. for a report of several individuals attempting to break into a Taco Bell.

Police say they stopped the involved vehicle and spoke to employees at the restaurant.

Authorities say witnesses stated a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Grayson Abney of Glasgow, had spit at the drive-thru window.

According to police, witnesses stated Abney threatened to hurt an employee, began yelling and closed the drive-thru window on the employee’s fingers. In addition, witnesses stated a beer was thrown at the drive-thru window, authorities say.

Officers say the employee sustained serious physical injuries to two fingers.

According to police, witnesses say the restaurant was closed and locked when Abney forcibly opened the front door. Authorities say witnesses report Abney then stood in the doorway, still threatening to hurt an employee.

The citation further states witnesses say Abney then entered the dining area before reentering the vehicle and leaving.

After officers reviewed surveillance footage of the incidents, they say Abney appeared to be the aggressor in a “threatening and hostile” interaction.

Abney was detained.

Authorities say Abney admitted to spitting at the drive-thru window and stated it was not intentional. He further denied closing the drive-thru window on the employee’s fingers, along with throwing a beer, according to police.

Abney was placed under arrest and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.

He faces charges of third-degree burglary, second-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief.
