Investigation into death of 1-year-old continues in Scottsville

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – The Scottsville Police Department and Allen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 1-year-old.

Monday, the teams responded to a complaint of an unresponsive child on Cottage Drive.

Lifesaving measures were performed on the child, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, authorities say.

The mother of the child, Alexandrae Price, and Devan Williams were arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 and under. Authorities said Price knowingly acted out of negligent abuse by allowing the child to live in health hazardous conditions.

The official cause of death in the child has still not been released.

The Scottsville Police Department released a statement on its social media platform:

The investigation is active and ongoing. Additional criminal charges are anticipated as the investigation continues. We will remain committed to seeking justice for this child and will provide additional updates when appropriate.”

Days prior to this incident, it also made a post about child abuse, warning abusers that Allen County does not stand for the abuse of a child.

In the text the department stated, “Child abuse has no place in our community, if you see something, hear something or suspect something, please speak up.”

We reached out to the Scottsville Police Department for an update, and it has told us that it is still investigating this case and will let the public know when more information is available.
